    TORE CHEUNG

     

    Tore creates drawings, paintings and collages. He is a Hong Kong based freelance illustrator who happens to make art. To be more precise, he is a visual artist who occasionally do illustration. He received his BA in Visual Communication from Polytechnic University of Hong Kong ages ago where he learned that the time to make one’s pastime a career is never. Upon survival/graduation, he has been freelancing with his beginner’s luck, seeking people with like-minded aesthetic to work with. Without proper portfolio and CV, he marginally managed to cross discipline with his art in the field of editorial, fashion, music and more. He likes drawing sketches on trash papers and keeping doubts in the process then showing this raw energy in the final work.

    Recently, Tore devoted himself to painting, participating in various group shows including “Lustfully Yours porno exhibition” (organized by Hulahoop gallery), “You Are Here” (organized by Whitespace) and “Girl JPEG Exhibition” in Gallery de Vie. He tends to use vibrant colors for his paintings. He locates his drawn images in nowhere while somebody believes it is Mexico. His work provokes controversy: Last year, a man’s nipples are being Photoshop away in his painting in order to be published in mainstream magazine; this year, the same thing happened on a monkey’s nipples. What’s next?

    Kay and I got to know about Tore through the internet.  (This modern world!)  He created his new website a few months back when he started sending out emails to some brands and designers, apparently we were the only ones who replied so promptly! We were flabbergasted by the strong character and charm of his work, and quickly arranged to meet this creative ally.  Very soon after meeting we have decided to collaborate on some kind any kind of work and he designed some beautiful prints for us! But now I'm going to show you some of his personal works...
